Minutes

May 8, 2008

 

Meeting called to order at 7 PM.

Approved minutes of last meeting.

 

Financial report read and approved.

 

Old Business:

            Poster Contest completed, winners picked and checks sent.

 

            CCC Sign Patsie is still working on completing this.

           

            DVD is ready for presentation to the group, will try and set this up for the next meeting.

 

Spring Clean-up. We will be cleaning up Virgie Antle’s property. Will met at 9:00, contact Brenda if you will help.

 

Want to thank Ruth Garner for taking on the job of Treasurer.

 

Fund Raisers discussed in new business section.

 

New Business:

            Northeast Colorado Rural Philanthropy Days June 4th-6th need a volunteer to attend. This is in Burlington, cost is $125 per person. Hip will pay registration and additional $75 for gas. Brenda and Carl checking to see if they can attend.

 

            Working on providing train rides during Limon Heritage Days. 25 cents per ride, train cars are at Larry’s and some need repair. This is on June 7th.

 

            Patsie is working on the knife project.

 

            Penny Machine Brenda is looking into getting donations for the machine.  Ben is going to look at a Cooper-Clark grant for the machine. 

 

            Cowboy Candy Bars- looking into adding labels and selling these in various stores in Hugo.

 

            Richard Messer recommends we look into doing a turkey shoot.

 

            Loveland High School Rodeo May 24-26th at fairgrounds. Helen Pierson says she and Sara have worked out this fund raiser. She is to send Ben a menu and booth times so we can get some volunteers to work. Also need to clean up the booth before and after event. We will be using the small booth over on contestant’s side of arena according to Helen.

 

           

            Bike Race May 31st. Ben Orrell is POC for this event. Ben and Helen furnishing grills. Everything will be done at the depot. Need to contact boy and girl scouts to see if they can provide about 12 stations along the route to hand out water. $6.00 per plate doing hamburgers, potato chips and salads from Osborne’s, and lemonade and tea. Helen will make tea.

 

            Streets of Fire car show June 14th. Hip sponsoring town wide garage sale for this date. POC is Patsie.

 

             Ranch Rodeo June 27th and 28th. Helen is POC,

 

            Hugo Garden Tour is planned for July 6th, Sunday evening from 5 to 7:30 PM, ending at the Messer’s for an ice cream social. Participants are Maye Gene Lee, Linda Orrell, Patsie smith, Megan Hohl, and Diana Sterling. Cost will be $10.00 per person.

 

Lincoln County Fair Aug 4-9th. Need volunteer to be POC.

 

            Bake Sale for 4th of July is May 16th. Drop off baked goods at Osborne’s.

 

            Looking into a possible Casino Night for New Years Eve.

 

            Next meeting__Date is yet to be set.  It will be after the Ranch Rodeo and before the County Fair if possible.
