Hugo Field Target Competition

Rules:
 
1.  Three shots at each of three targets located 5, 7, & 10 yards from firing line for a maximum score of 9.
 
2.  Targets are shooter re-settable, knock-over style--if it does not fall over it does not count!
 
3. Time limit of 9 minutes for all 9 shots, starting on official's signal.
 
3.  One contestant at a time.
 
4.  Air rifles of any make/action/sights/scopes may be used, however only lead pellets may be fired.
 
5.  All contestants will wear safety glasses.
 
6.  Ties will be broken via sudden victory...First shooter to knock-down 10 yard target is declared winner (coin toss will be used to determine first shooter).
 

1st place winner will be awarded a plaque.
2nd place will receive a handshake and an "attaboy" or "attagirl" (as appropriate).
3rd place might get a "better luck next time."
 
Loaner rifle will be available for those who wish to participate without his/her own pellet rifle.
 
Participants will be requested to sign a waiver/release of liability in order to participate.  For those under 18 years of age, a parent/guardian must sign as well.

  HUGO CENTENNIAL FIELD TARGET SAFETY RULES

These rules will be strictly enforced, any abuse of these rules or "horseplay" may result in disqualification/removal from event area.

  1. All Airguns shall be kept unloaded until on the firing line, with the muzzle pointed downrange and ready to fire.

  2. Airgun muzzles will, at all times, be pointed away from all persons.

  3. When on the firing line, safe Airgun procedures will be observed including:

    1. No Airgun will be cocked or loaded until a shot is ready to be fired downrange.

    2. When an Airgun is cocked or loaded on the firing line, the SAFETY will not be released until the muzzle is pointed at the target and the shooter is ready to FIRE.

    3. When cocking Piston Airguns, the Shooter must hold the cocking lever or barrel while inserting a pellet, to prevent the accidental discharge of the gun and preventing injury to himself or other shooters.

    4. Maintain a safe and courteous distance while watching other participants.

    5. Each shooter is responsible for his or her direction of fire, and safety toward other shooters.

    6. When the Range Marshall declares “CEASE FIRE” the Shooter will break the breech, open the loading port or bolt, or unlatch the cocking lever to signify a safe line.

    7. The Range Marshall will have the final decision on matters of "Safety on the Range".

    8. Lead Pellets only may be used on the range.

  4. Safety must be encouraged and enforced. It is, therefore, important that all shooters strive to practice safe airgun handling. It is also important, that shooters remind anyone of unsafe airgun handling and, if necessary, report unsafe practices to the Range Safety Officer or Marshall.

  5. NO children shall be allowed on the firing line. Junior Shooters MUST be cleared by the Range Marshall by being instructed on RANGE SAFETY.

  6. No alcohol will be allowed on the field target course.
  7. All spectators are encouraged, but those within 10 feet of shooter must, wear eye protection.
